🌡️ Complete Heat Wave Survival Guide
A heat wave is declared when the daily maximum temperature exceeds 33°C (91°F) and is expected to persist for 2 or more days. Heat waves can cause serious health issues including heatstroke, heat exhaustion, and dehydration.
Heat Wave Action Plan
1. Limit Outdoor Activities
Stay indoors between noon and 5 PM when temperatures and UV are at their peak. If you must go outside, seek shade and rest in a cool place for at least 10 minutes every 30 minutes.
2. Stay Hydrated
Drink water before you feel thirsty. Adults should consume at least 2-3 liters daily, and 4+ liters during heat waves. Avoid caffeine and alcohol, and replenish electrolytes with sports drinks.
3. Dress Cool
Wear loose, light-colored clothing. Natural fabrics like cotton and linen provide better ventilation. Use hats and sunglasses to block direct sunlight.
⚠️ Heatstroke Emergency
Symptoms: Body temperature above 40°C (104°F), no sweating, hot and dry skin, confusion, seizures
First Aid: Call emergency services immediately → Move to shade → Loosen clothing → Cool with wet towels and fanning
